Elbow hair is harmful to expectant mothers
Women whose work is linked to inhalation of hair spray, threatened during pregnancy, reported Science Daily.
Research by British scientists shows that chemicals in Hairspray (phthalates) can cause a hormonal disorder in pregnant and influence the development of reproductive organs of the baby.
Elbow hair is associated with common genital defects in boys - hypospadias (the end of the urethra is located on the underside of the penis rather than at the top - a distance of several millimetres to several centimetres from the right place).
There is no compelling evidence that chemicals in hair sprays cause birth defects, but the study gives reasons for the existing connection. It warns of the potential risk assumed by expectant mothers.
